High-Density Model in Minneapolis is for the Rich/Elite, Not for the Poor or the Vulnerable

The current high density model (a lot of new buildings being built) in Minneapolis is for the rich/elite, not for the poor or vulnerable families.

When one advocates for high density on public land that public housing properties are on and public housing residents/ communities reside, this means privatizations, displacement of residents, destruction of refugee, immigrant, East African Communities, African American Communities, POC, and massive gentrification. Please remember the wave of high density that is taking over Minneapolis now is not for low-income families. These units are not income based, and they are not based on 30% of one’s income for rent. The current high density model is for the rich elite not for the poor, vulnerable, elders, or the disabled. The rents are way too high in order push poor people out of the city.  More income based homes and public housing need to be built in Minneapolis for low-income families, the disabled, and our elders. Currently, the wait list for public housing in Minneapolis is over 17,000 people.
