COVID-19

November 14, 2020

In the wake of the Minneapolis Uprising, our mutual aid project Public Goods went viral and received an overwhelming amount of small-dollar donations and national support. Our initial goal for the project was to raise 25,000 dollars. Instead, with the generosity of working people from across the country, we raised 58,241.17 dollars total!

$38,625.9 of those dollars were spent on buying gift cards. $36,800 dollars were actually redistributed back to 920 public housing households, and the remaining $1,825.9 were used to cover gift card fees.

$11,646.34 were used to purchase COVID-19 supplies such as Hand Sanitizer, Masks, Gloves and Soap.

783.1 dollars were used towards administrative costs such as printing.

Which means out of the $58,241.17 we raised, we have $7,185.83 left over. These left over funds will be used to support residents needs such as paying residents rents and legal fees.

We are extremely grateful to have launched this project and received the support we have. We have paused our mutual aid project as of now to focus on resident advocacy and the fight against privatization which lays ahead of us. If you’d like to support our other efforts, please donate to our general fund (link in bio) and follow our social media accounts to learn about our work. Thank you for supporting the work of public housing residents!

Public Goods: A Mutual Aid Project for Minneapolis Public Housing Residents

Public Goods: A Mutual Aid Project for Minneapolis Public Housing Residents

#COVID19 has rearranged our world in ways we were not prepared for. Among those negatively impacted by and vulnerable to COVID19, are public housing residents. Many are facing loss of income, child care issues, and lack of essential supplies much like you and your loved ones. We ask you to donate to public housing residents through our city-wide mutual aid fund: Public Goods. In collaboration with Northside Neighborhood Council and Prospect Park Association, your donation will help us serve over 900 homes in Minneapolis and ensure that people receive the everyday essential items that they need to combat COVID-19. Let’s work together and be there for one another in these difficult times. Please donate today and share this campaign with your friends and family!
